Ely, NV to Eureka, NV – 70 miles, 10.8 mph, 3787 ft elevation gain

Going to start my posts with: “The Final Countdown”. According to my best calculations!

Today’s miles: 69.09
Total Miles: 3250.69
Total Miles to go: 530.33

Another awesome Nevada day. These mountains are really growing on me. We started a wee bit earlier than planned as our phones didn’t recognize the time change. We thought McDonalds would cook breakfast but not at 4am. Soooo. We got in the camper and had cereal since we had disconnected from the power.

Day 56 07/18/21

Baker, NV to Ely, NV – 65mi, 11mph, 4485 ft elevation gain

Awesome Nevada day. Big climbing miles. Pleased with my average. Gotta be honest. I caught a tail wind going up the last 6 miles. That certainly helped. We are in Ely. I rode about 10 miles west of this town. I’m in these spans where it is 60-80 miles between towns on The Lonliest Road in America.

Fantastic day. 51+ miles today. Cooler temps. Please keep praying these temps stay down. We made it to Nevada and are about 15 miles into the state. We are hunkered down in Baker. Not much here. BIG climbs tomorrow though. This will be my story all across Nevada.

Day 53 – 07/15/21

Between Enoch, UT and Minersville, UT – 22 miles, 9.9mph, 1211 ft elevation gain

Short day. 21.63 miles. We visited Zion National Park. I am going to be completely honest. Extremely disappointed after everything we have seen and been through in this state. Park staff were extremely rude to guests and the park was packed. I mean Disney like packed. We had to park off site and walk in. Every outside shuttle was always “full”. This area is very “touristy”. All others in Utah were remote and quiet like. If that makes sense. Nature didn’t seem like “nature” here. Noisy with tons of busses and tons of people.

Panguitch, UT to Enoch, UT – 73.85 miles, 9.5mph, 5345 ft elevation gain

My last time over 10,000. Today’s climb was beautiful. It reminded me so much of my Colorado. Would you believe I had to sit in the truck TWICE to warm up this morning? We started at 50 degrees. I got chilled from sweating on the climb. AND we finished at 91 degrees. Huge difference from one side of the mountain to the other.

Day Off – Bryce Canyon National Park

Beyond fun rest day. Jocelynn and I checked out Bryce National Park. All I can say is put this on your bucket list if you have never visited.

We met some incredible folks and were able to witness with Gods story in my life.

I am just beyond grateful. Places like this make you realize how small we are but what a huge purpose Gods plan is for our life. Be his witness!

Day 50 – 07/12/21

Escalate, UT to Panguitch, UT – 71mi, 9.5mph, 5435ft elevation gain

Well. Prayers answered. Look at how my day began. These rocks were placed outside of my camper door. Remember my fears? Well. I conquered them. God knew I needed this message this morning. Insanely great day. I’ve been quite emotional. Ever since my momma visited Bryce Canyon I have wanted to see this. Not only am I seeing it… I am biking through it. I got 71 miles in today. The heat is much better due to the smoke layer coming from CA. It hit 95 but on the Bryce side only high 80s. I had 2 really big climbs and I have set myself up for a FULL day off tomorrow and time to explore Bryce Canyon.

Fruita, UT, to almost to Escalate, UT, – 51mi , 6306ft elevation gain

Phew. Not sure how to describe today. We left Capitol Reef overlook this morning before sunrise and headed for Escalante. I cycled up to 9600 in elevation again. I had over 30 miles of climbing and many of them at 8-11% grade. I then came down into the canyons and into Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument when at 51.9 miles Jocelynn called the day at 100 degrees. While the mountain climbing was hard the temp ( much lower) and the trees were so very nice. I loved seeing cattle and hearing birds too.

Hanksville, UT to Fruita, UT – 57 miles, 11.4mph, 3027 ft elevation gain

Awesome day of CLIMBING. Got 57 miles and by my calculations I have 998.5 to get to the coast. I rode through Capitol Reef National Park most of the day. Just unreal how this exists. I feel like I am on another planet. We stood in line for our Fruita pies. Of course I ate all of mine and Jocelynn only ate half of hers.
