Day 45 – 07/07/21

Boarder of UT to Blanding, UT (past Blanding by 20 miles – 59 miles, 10.8 mph, 4086 elevation gain

UTAH!!! UTAH!!! Insanely beautiful. Insanely hilly/mountainous. Insanely HOT. I couldn’t get my goal of 65 today. We stopped short. The temp was running at 99 degrees for what seemed forever. I was riding on new BLACK chip and seal which added heat. It’s ok. Gods got me. Tomorrow I will rise early and only do 35 miles and go see Natural Bridge National Monument. I’m super excited.

Now. For a couple…From My Saddle Thoughts.

  1. Animals that die in this heat look like mummies. Nothing is scavenging them ?
  2. Why must animals come to the road and often the white line to poop?(see picture) They have fields and fields of grass???
  3. Plastic tote lids do not stay on totes in the back of your truck. Don’t do this. Every single day I see at least 3.
  4. If I had a quarter for every bungee strap I have seen along the road I could retire. No kidding.
