Dighton, KS to Tribune, KS – 66mi, 11mph, 999ft elevation gain
I want to thank each of you for your encouragement and love for me on this journey. It means the world.
Kansas wanted to make sure I remembered she could dish it out. Had a head wind of 20mph most of the day. It turned to cross around 1 and then a wee cross/tail to finish my 66 miles. We are in Tribune, KS and about 16 miles from CO. The temp got up to 106 and I just had to call it. I’m telling you what few brain cells I have left are getting fried in this heat.
We met so many amazing folks today. I learned what “harvesters” are and do. Quite a facinating lifestyle. The family of 8 next to us at the RV park is from Canada. They bring combines and living quarters and start in TX and harvest wheat all the way back to their farms in Canada.
We saw several cross country cyclists today. We stopped at this incredible bakery literally in the middle of nowhere. For a second I thought I may have died and gone to Heaven. Jocelynn really loved this place. She would like to own her own bakery someday.
I stopped at a second hand store and bought some children’s book so I could read my Blakely bedtime stories. I miss my precious littles so much. Blakely has to read me a story too.
I am excited for CO tomorrow. I finished at over 3300 in elevation.
