Montrose, CO to Telluride, CO – 56.5 miles, 8.9mph, 5,367ft elevation, gain
Well. Sorry to keep you all waiting. It’s been a day! These mountains are insanely beautiful but they literally kicked my bum. I got my first police escort in a busy tough area of Telluride. That was so incredibly nice. I didn’t summit Lizzard Head Pass today. That will wait until tomorrow. The heat, the altitude, and the constant 7-9% grade for almost 40 of my 56 miles was all I could take.
We had a check engine light come on so we had to drive 65 miles to an o’Reillys. Hoping to get a Dodge dealer to look at it Tues. It’s something with that Def fluid system it looks like.
Tonight we rest. We are resting at Stoner RV resort. The name comes from the 1800s and mining. I know what you are all thinking!!! Incredible folks. We got to see a momma bear and 2 cubs and a herd of elk through our camp neighbors binoculars. So neat. Jocelynn had literally said as we pulled in she wants to see a bear.
We open cards on Sundays. Julia Kehoe prepared a card for me 5 years ago. I never opened it until tonight. You have no idea how God works. He planted these words 5 years ago BUT I needed them today. Bill Walters has had a card for me weekly. Tonight’s made me cry too. Thanks honey.
