Day 36 – 06/28/21

Lake Pueblo, CO to Howard, CO – 64 miles, 9.7 mph, 5145 ft elevation gain

Insanely beautiful day. I got to see parts of CO I have never visited. We made it to Howard and drove down to Salida (our stomping grounds). We are camping and then a short day to get me to the base of Monarch Pass. I will rest for 3 nights at our cabin. Super excited. My body needs this. I did get rained on and we waited out a sleet/rain storm for a hot minute.

Pretty excited about my stats. I climbed for 20.3 miles. Most at a grade of 8% or better. I think this might be my longest climb in all the Rockies. I know my elevation will go up but length of climb won’t.

We got pulled over by Colorado’s finest. He said someone illegally passed us in a construction zone and a concerned citizen called it in. He was just looking after cyclists. Nice guy.
