Day 23 – 06/15/21

Eminence, MO to Rail, MO – 66mi, +4000ft elevation gain

Awesome day…. REALLY.  Zero snakes.  That’s a record.  Zero mean people yelled at me.  Another record.  We met an east bound cyclist (Peter) and his wife was following him. We also stopped for propane and George wouldn’t even charge us.  Better part of this story is that when I was 10 miles out of town and had met Peter, while we were stopped along the road George drove by and stopped and asked if we were ok.  Such a kind man.

AND the best part of our day was meeting Officer Cruz, who is also a miracle, and sharing our testimonies.  Officer Cruz was shot twice on a courtesy stop, just like he stopped to check on us, while I was packing up my bike for the day. He was shot in the head and the bullet grazed his skull and in the abdomen and his bullet proof vest saved him.  He left the hospital with three staples in his head the same day. He told me he wants to also write a book and title it “bonus days”.  Sharing with this officer was truly such a blessing today.  Jocelynn said my book should be titled “bonus miles”. Because we have been given a gift from God in everyday we are here.

I’m bummed Strava quit while we were at Walmart. I restarted it and it didn’t kick back in. Today was likely in the top 3 of climbs.  Spectacular views once on top.

Praise him in the morning, praise him at noontime, praise him all day long!!
