What a glorious sunrise we were treated with this morning. It was totally worth getting up at 4 to drop Jay off at the airport to see this. I got some great photos of the clouds enveloping the Golden Gate Bridge. It was so beautiful.
We headed to Sonoma after sunrise and stopped at Wine Country Cyclery to rent Kelly a bike. We went about 8 miles total rolling through some pretty vineyards. We got to Buena Vista Vineyard and were going to do a little wine tasting and have lunch. However, it was a very hot day, and riding back up hill with having wine in our system would not be a fun experience for either of us. Plus we didn’t want to spend $50 for a boxed lunch and wine. So we hopped on the bikes and road back to the bike shop. It was a beautiful ride and one day I hope I can do a longer ride in this beautiful wine country.
We went to Sacramento next and stopped to meet up with a fellow cyclist John Phillips. We were suppose to ride the section of Sacramento that Donita and I were going to ride. It was a crazy hot 101 degrees out so we both though it best to just have a late lunch at Jack’s urban Eats. That was a great decision. I had their Chinese chicken salad. It gets two thumbs up from me.
I met John on the Crazyguyonabike journal website. He has been helping me out the last few months finding the best route over the Sierras. We had a great time talking about all his road adventures and his family. He was very encouraging to me to keep riding and fight the fear I have. He treated both of us which is such a blessing. Thanks John!
Kelly and I headed toward Oakhurts after meeting John and had a brief stop at New Malone – Parrot’s Ferry Bridge. A friend asked if we were driving over the bridge to take a picture for her. Her family is from here. What a beautiful place to be from. We got to Oakhurst pretty late tonight and the only thing available was the Yosemite Sierra Inn. Lord it is expensive! At this point I really don’t care and am just thrilled to be in a nice clean comfy bed. It was a long day especially since we got up at 4. Enough for now. Tomorrow we head into Yosemite. Would love to ride among the granite giants.
