May 24th -Wall, SD to Cody, WY –

Kelly and I enjoy joyed our sight seeing adventures at Mt Rushmore, the BlackHills park, Crazy Horse before we headed toward Wyoming. It was really a great morning. It was on the chilly side, low 60’s when we jumped out the car to snap a few pics of the 4 presidents. They are still as cool as they were the last time I saw them in 1983. When we got to Crazy Horse we had to pay a crazy fee just to see his face. I remembered coming here 33 years ago and thinking how in the world are they going to make a man and a horse out of this rock. (please click the “READ MORE” for rest of post and photos.

This time I was excited to see how much progress they have made on it. Much to my disappointment, they haven’t gotten to far in 3 decades! Maybe by the time I have Great Great grandchildren they might begin on the horse… it wasn’t worth the $12/person fee to walk away disappointed like that. I could have bought a Big Mac and been much happier and fulfilled. The slight rain added to my “really?” mood of the moment. We didn’t stay long maybe 20 mins which pretty much amounted to $1/min while there. The goal for the day was to make it to Cody, WY, so that tomorrow we will be able to spend a good part of the day in Yellowstone NP. The drive was absolutely beautiful. Kelly is so good to stop for me when I want to pull my camera out. The red roads add to the overall beauty of the drive. Trains, trains, trains! Lots of trains! Roadside streams, mule deer, spring flowers, and rolling hills with thick forbidding clouds made me excited to start cycling across the great USofA! We stayed at Rodeway Inn in Cody, WY.
