Day 67 07/29/21

Update:

Friends. We are waiting on Bill Walters and Mommas arrival. It looks like this new beach we have chosen is a wee bit further away. I still hope to finish tonight BUT if their flight is delayed in landing at all we will have to do this in the morning. Stay tuned. At any rate we will post a live. I am so incredibly excited!!!

In the meantime we went from 55 degrees to this. 😫

Day 66 07/28/21

Day off!

Jocelynn and I had a blast exploring The Redwoods National Forest. Tomorrow Bill Walters and momma arrive. To say I am excited would be a huge understatement. The plan is to dip our tire and have the official finish around 11pm Indiana time. We will go FB live to share this with all of you. If. IF their flight is delayed…the finish will happen on Friday morning. I will post if changes will be made.

Day 65 07/27/21

Day off for therapy shooing and a drive to Eureka! Long day. We tried to drive to Stinson beach to see if it would be a good place to dip the tire in and it turned out to be quiet the adventure. The windy road caused Jocelynn to get motion sickness, so it wasn’t too fun for her. We decided not to ride Hwy1 up to Eureka due to how curvy the road is. We had a little issue finding a place to pull over to get to the beach and ended up stopping traffic both ways due to Silver bullet be way to big for thes narrow roads. A kind soul directed traffic and help guide me to turn around and then gave me directions to get back on a main road and head back to hwy101. What a day. We didn’t get to campsite until very late. No pictures today. We will have another day off tomorrow to see the Redwoods! Then Friday we drive back to Sacramento to pick up Bill and my momma.

Phew. Lots of emotions right now. I’m beyond exhausted. I was on and off saddle for 11 hours to get those miles. Huge HUGE thank you to a John for going way above and beyond to get me through Sacramento and through Davis. I was on a bike path for almost 50 miles. Sacremento even has bike path round abouts. OR traffic circles as they are called out here. For those of you who “love” round a bouts. 😂.

Day 60 – 07/22/21

10 miles west of Middlegate, NV to Silver Spring, NV – 66miles, 12mph, 1256 ft elevation gain

Fantastic day of riding and new friends. I got to the top of my first summit and met two awesome fellas. Both from MN. Shlomo and Wes. They met through Adventure Cycling and decided to ride from MN to San Fran. I rode around 25 miles with Wes, Shlomo was way to fast for me. Wonderful to have a riding friend. I also believe God crossed our paths for a very specific reason. The fellas stopped in Fallon and I needed 25 more miles so I continued on to Silver Springs. They are taking a couple of days off here in Fallon. We met back up and enjoyed dinner together.

A fast Nevada day. The smoke is getting thicker and the smell stronger. We got a few more miles in than planned before the heat kicked up. I have truly enjoyed the peace and tranquility of “The Loneliest Road in America”. I am soaking in every morsel of mountains and beauty my brain can possibly hold. I’m afraid the hustle and bustle of bigger cities awaits as I approach the coast.
